ARK: Survival Ascended Genesis — Map Overview

Complete Genesis Part 1 map guide: five biomes, connected ocean, teleportation, glitches, and navigation tips.

Genesis Simulation Layout

Genesis Part 1 is not a single continuous landmass like The Island or Ragnarok. It is a simulation divided into five biome zones: Bog, Arctic, Ocean, Volcanic, and Lunar. Each zone has distinct terrain, creatures, resources, and mission terminals. With Genesis Ascended, a map-sized ocean now connects these biomes physically while HLN-A teleportation remains available.

Survivors spawn by selecting a biome and cardinal direction from the HLN-A teleport menu. Beds can teleport you but drop inventory — always use HLN-A for safe transfers with items and nearby tames intact. Glitches scattered across the map replace explorer notes and reward hexagons when repaired.

Biome Summary

Bog: Swamps with Titan Trees, Bloodstalkers, and dense foliage. Best for early fiber/thatch and Bloodstalker taming. Arctic: Snow peaks, avalanches, blizzards, and Ferox territory. Requires fur armor. Ocean: Deep trenches, whirlpools, shipyards, and naval content hub. Volcanic: Ash fields, eruptions, Magmasaurs. Lunar: Low gravity, oxygen vents, element fog, Astrocetus spawns.

Each biome hosts X-Creature variants, unique mission pools, and environmental hazards. Progress Bog and Ocean first, then Arctic and Volcanic, saving Lunar for hazard suit-equipped runs.

Navigation and Travel

HLN-A teleportation is instant between biomes with inventory preserved. Ocean sailing connects zones physically — useful for ship-based transport and fortress raids but slower than teleport. Oxygen vents in Lunar biome launch survivors between asteroids. Avalanches in Arctic and Volcanic biomes damage anything in their path.

Flying is disabled in most Genesis areas. Use Bloodstalkers for Bog traversal, Megachelon mobile bases in Ocean, and Astrocetus warp abilities in Lunar. See individual biome pages for detailed region guides and resource locations.

Base Placement Strategy

Build primary bases near mission terminals and shallow water for ship access. Ocean coastal plots offer the most versatility post-Tides of Fortune. Avoid building inside mission zones where structure placement is restricted. Use teleporters to maintain outposts in each biome without full relocation.

Tribe bases on PvP servers should use elevated Lunar or Volcanic outposts as vaults while keeping operational coastal Galleon docks in Ocean biome.

Frequently Asked Questions

How many biomes are in Genesis?

Five: Bog, Arctic, Ocean, Volcanic, and Lunar, plus the connected ocean layer in Ascended.

Can I place beds for teleporting?

Yes, but bed teleport drops your inventory. Use HLN-A for item-safe travel.

Where are glitches found?

Glitches appear throughout all biomes as interactive objects. Repair them for hexagons and HLN-A lore.

Is there a map size comparison?

Each biome is a mini-map sized zone. The connected ocean adds a substantial naval layer linking all zones.
